Alea Pinar Du Pre
Alea Pinar Du Pre (b. 1972) is a Turkish-born artist based between Amsterdam and Vienna. Her work is driven by an ongoing curiosity about the nature of reality, drawing on ideas from science, philosophy, history and anthropology. She explores a view of the world as an interconnected whole in constant flux, rather than a collection of separate elements.
Working in a distinctive figurative style, Du Pre creates paintings that appear familiar yet subtly altered. Her work explores the space between the external world and our internal experience of it, suggesting that what we perceive as solid reality is fluid and shaped by the mind.
Her practice combines acrylic, gilding, printed elements and epoxy with references to digital imagery. This fusion of materials—what she describes as “media fusion”—creates layered compositions that reflect both the tangible and virtual dimensions of contemporary life.
Du Pre describes her style as “Jugendstil Pop-Art”, blending decorative elegance with a more intimate and questioning perspective. Since 2008, she has exhibited internationally, and her work is held in significant private and corporate collections, including Ferko Holding, Sabanci Holding, Koc Holding, Bora Collection, Odeabank and ICBC Bank.
